YOUTH SCRABBLE

The performances of Srilankan youth show that Sri Lanka is a good grooming ground for young players. Since the inception of the World Youth Scrabble Championships (WYSC), Sri Lanka has put forth stellar performances and is presently ranked 4th in the world with a hold of 9 seats for the WYSC in 2011.

The Sri Lanka Scrabble® League organizes several tournaments a year aimed at improving the skills of the youth and identifying hidden talent. These tournaments are:

  • All Island Scrabble Competition (AISC) –Sub Junior (U13) & Junior (U18)
  • All Island Inter School Scrabble Tournament (AIISST)
  • Schools Scrabbler of the Year (SSOY)

Additionally, the young players are given ample opportunity to compete against the best rated players of the country at tournaments.
